• Membership Open or Close

    All new students (excluding students from financial programmes) receive automatic library membership. They may start borrowing library materials immediately upon receiving their student ID cards. Students from the financial programmes students can apply for library membership with a valid deposit receipt.

    NOTE : There are different borrowing privileges for various collections. For details of borrowing privileges please refer to Loan Services.

  • Library Orientation and User Education Services Open or Close

    ORIENTATION

    An orientation briefing and tour will be arranged for new students to familiarise them with the Library & Learning Commons resources, facilities and services. Following the orientation session, the library also arranges for a hands on session for students to experience and explore the library online catalogue, manage their library account and access e- resources.

    USER EDUCATION

    The Library & Learning Commons also conducts Library Skills Classes for students. These classes are designed to equip the users with basic and advanced techniques for retrieving information from electronic databases and techniques for referencing purposes. Lecturers may also arrange for customised workshops for their students benefit.

  • Plagiarism Prevention Services Open or Close

    Plagiarism Detection

    Turnitin is used by some programmes to check originality, review assignments to prevent possible plagiarism and to help students to improve their writing skills. Students can consult the library staff for instruction of use and referencing advice.

    Citation Guides

    Correct referencing is essential to avoid plagiarism. Harvard reference style is used within college.

    Students are required to follow the guide below to prepare citation for their assignments.

    To assist students in managing citations, students are encouraged to use CiteThisForMe: Harvard Referencing to organise, store, manage and create bibliographic references for books, articles and etc.
