75 of Sunway College Johor Bahru’s brightest students were acknowledged
in the Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship Award
Ceremony 2008 for their brilliant performances in the academic arena.
Mrs Hor Poh Choo, Principal of Sunway College Johor
Bahru who presented the scholarships, said the College appreciated the
outstanding students’ choice of furthering their education with the
institution.
“Sunway College Johor Bahru offers an amazing opportunity to these
students to broaden their strengths and talents and to grow with the
College,” she said
Students of the lot were awarded full tuition fee waivers in appreciation of
their excellent SPM results. Kamaladevi, previously from Sultan Ibrahim Girls
School (SIGS) who scored an incredible 13As was elated to hear that she had been
awarded the scholarship. “It has always been my dream to become a medical
doctor, and thanks to Sunway College Johor Bahru, I am one step closer to
achieving my dream”. Chin Hon Yew who scored 11As was just as happy to receive
the honour. “It is good to know that my hard work is appreciated”. Both Kamala
and Chin are current students of the GCE Cambridge GCE A-Level programme at
Sunway College Johor Bahru.
Given out for the third year, the Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah
Entrance Scholarship is awarded to full-time students of Sunway College Johor
Bahru who have performed exceptionally well prior to their admission into the
College. In the 3-year history, 2008 records the largest amount of awards being
given away, totaling RM 290 850. The scholarship aims to not only reward the
students for their previous achievements, but to also act as a catalyst for them
to keep performing better.
