Freshies’
Nite 2009 was held in much pomp and glamour to welcome the freshmen
of Sunway College Johor Bahru. The event was held on 27 March at the
Multi Purpose Hall. As the theme of the night was ‘Sporty’, about
150 freshmen were geared up in sports wear enthusiastically waiting
to have fun throughout the night. The hall was beautifully decorated
with colourful balloons prepared by the Student Ambassadors.
The event
started with a special cheerleading performance by none other than
our very own “sexy babes” (who happened to be the boys from the
Student Ambassadors). As the crowd roared with laughter, the evening
kicked off with a warm welcome by the Masters of Ceremony, Krithika
Loganath and Kharis Ishan. The evening continued with an energetic
hip hop dance performed by the members of the Dance Club. The 150
students were then divided into 10 teams for the ice breaking
session and this was followed by a game called ‘Balloon Bursting’
which saw the crowd going wild as they tried to burst each others
balloons which were tied to their ankles.
Various
performances were lined up for the freshmen. Kenneth from MUFY July
08 gave a soulful rendition of the song ‘A Beautiful Mess’ which was
followed by a Mascot Designing Competition as groups dressed up
their mascots in cheerleading outfits made out of newspapers and
recyclable items. The crowd burst out in laughter as our mascots
marched down the aisle in their outrageous outfits. The crowd then
settled down and enjoyed a sweet duet of the song ‘Lucky’ performed
by Joan and Kenneth Goh of A-Levels Jan 09. Everyone in the hall was
definitely grooving to the beat as Kenneth performed the song ‘This
Love’ followed by a performance by Colin of MUFY July 08 with the
song ‘I’m Yours’. Besides that, the student ambassadors put up a
great sketch full of humour. The fun filled event ended with a prize
giving ceremony and lucky draws.
Freshies’ Nite 2009
was a hit among the students. This event was made possible by the
Student Ambassadors and all students who contributed. We hope the
next Freshies’ Nite will be as successful as this.
