Double Monash Excellence Award winner, Sim Thai Hng, 18, caused a stir
in Sunway College Johor Bahru (SYCJB) recently when he emerged as a
world top scorer. The Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) student
scored a perfect 100 marks in Economics Part B and 97 marks in
Accounting Part B, the highest score amongst all MUFY providers
globally. Thai Hng, who is also a recipient of the Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah
Entrance Scholarship will be pursuing a Business and Commerce degree with
Monash University Sunway Campus, Malaysia in February.
The former straight A’s SPM science student had always been very
interested in Economics since his secondary school days.
SYCJB is the only provider for the MUFY programme in the Southern
Region of Peninsular Malaysia. This Australian Year 12 equivalent programme
is highly regarded by Australian Universities and allows admission to a full
range of Monash University undergraduate degrees.
“It is phenomenal! SYCJB has produced 5 world
prize winners (Monash Excellence Award) in the last 2 years and has 100%
success rate of placing MUFY students at top-notch universities and tertiary
establishments,” exclaimed How Pei Lin, Head of Pre-University programmes.
The proud achiever lauded MUFY as a fast track and well recognised programme
which gives him a direct pathway to his ideal university.
“Not only it took me less than a year to complete my foundation
studies, it is also cost effective too,” said Thai Hng who relished that he
is able to obtain a world class education right at the heart of Johor Bahru.
Thai Hng attributed his success to the dedicated coaching and
supervision of his lecturers.
“I would also like to say a big thank you to my family members for
their unbridled confidence in me,” continued Thai Hng.
