AT first sight, actress Liyana Jasmay looks too young to be wearing make-up. But the starlet’s petite stature and youthful features — baby-faced and doe-eyed — belie the fact that she will be old enough to vote come March 28.
This month is shaping up to be a good one for Liyana as she not only celebrates her 21st birthday but has also bagged one of the beauty industry’s most prestigious campaigns by being named the new spokesperson for Maybelline New York in Malaysia.

The world has shrunk with the advent of global degree programmes around the world with a common content, brought about by the shared goal of delivering a quality programme. Sunway University College (Sunway) was one such institution when Rina Ayob, a psychology sophomore from Princeton University took a gap year and completed a semester of studies in the Psychology Honours degree course offered by the Department of Psychology at Sunway.
An outspoken young lady with a gentle demeanour that hides a steely determination, Rina had her credits transferred easily to Princeton. “I am really pleased with that as it is a…

In the 6th Asian Winter Games 2007 that took place in Changchun, China which wrapped up early February, we were thrilled to witness the first Malaysian ice hockey team competing on an international level.
Malaysian Ice Hockey Team
Now, the first question that might immediately leap to ones mind is, “How many westerners were on the team?”
That query is understandable. After all, ice hockey in Malaysia is relatively unheard of. But happily the answer is, “None.” The team consisted of 18 locals from different background and ages, who have been playing less than 8 years in local ice hockey leagues. An even lesser known fact is that one third of the team either are or…

22 year old Lai Kar Jun, an outstanding student at Sunway University College, was selected for the Ernst and Young Best Graduating ACCA student Award at the recent ACCA/CAT Graduation ceremony. And quite rightly so because his track record tells it all.

Among the scholarships given by Sunway University College, perhaps the ones that are the most satisfying to award are the Tun Dato’ Seri Omar Ong Community Scholarships. These scholarships are not for academic achievers, nor for the “kings” and “queens” of sports or extra-curricular involvement. With more and more companies jumping on the recycling bandwagon in their efforts to project an environmentally conscious image, it has now become essential for each of us to understand that there is more to preserving the environment than recycling.
“People should reduce their use of plastic bags” said Dr Uthaya. It’s sad that we have reached a point where salespeople feel they have not served us if they have not given us a plastic bag. “It’s a cultural norm now to expect a plastic bag but we can do our part to get the message across by reducing our dependence on…
