We all have a personal email account (gmail, yahoomail, hotmail etc) but as Sunway students, we provide you with an official student email each which will be used as your official email for all college communication (important announcements, payment advice, official receipt, instructions from your lecturers etc). We call it iMail, and you must use this from now onwards to communicate about college matters – we will no longer send information to your personal email after orientation! So, please check your iMail daily once semester starts.

Your iMail ID is <Student ID Number>@imail.sunway.edu.my

iMail user guide is available at https://izone.sunway.edu.my/imail/

greytriangle What is iLearn?
This is our dedicated Learning Management System (LMS) which is built on the Moodle platform. Therefore, your lecturers may use the term iLearn and Moodle interchangeably so don’t be confused! They mean the same thing.
Here, you will receive daily instructions from your lecturers about classes, download learning material such as lecture videos, notes, tutorials, activity sheets etc.

Watch the video tutorial for instructions on activating your student iMail. IMPORTANT – you will need to have your Student ID number readily available for reference. This is a series of 8 digits which will be used for many matters and most importantly, your login access to all online features. You can find the Student ID on your Letter of Offer or email acknowledgement.

greytriangle Can my parents join the orientation?
College is the start of tertiary education and your transition to adulthood. We encourage students to be independent and undertake to participate in the orientation activities together with other freshmen. If your parents wish to seek clarification on matters regarding your admission and programme related concerns, they may approach the staff on duty at the Information Centre for assistance.

Please have your Letter of Offer and official receipts of fees paid with you for quick reference, should this become necessary. Do also have personal stationery (pen and notebook) ready for note-taking during the briefing sessions.

greytriangle What should I wear to college?
When you attend face to face classes, students are advised to be appropriately attired at all times while on campus, eg: t-shirt and jeans are an acceptable choice of clothing while sneakers would be considered suitable footwear.

At college, we treat all students as adults and do not impose a strict dresscode. However, there are a list of attire and footwear which we do not encourage as indicated in the College Rules and Regulations. In general, students should be considerate in their attire in order to be respectful of everyone.

There may be specific dresscodes for the attendance of examinations, practical classes as well as at special events and activities. These will be advised separately by the relevant departments when applicable.

  FACILITIES AND SERVICES

Yes, all students who wish to drive and park on campus should apply for an annual car entry pass with Student Services at no charge. This should be displayed prominently on the windscreen of your vehicle at all times for easy identification by campus security. However, carpark lots are subject to availability and a car entry pass is not a guarantee that a lot will be available to you at all times.

greytriangle  Is there a hostel available? Can a local student stay on-campus?

Yes, the on-campus residence is available to all enrolled students on a first-come, first-served basis. Accommodation is provided in single or twin-sharing rooms at daily, monthly or term (3 months) rates. Each unit is fully furnished and equipped with air-conditioner, water heater and wi-fi connectivity.

Find out more about the Sunway College Residence at https://www.sunway.edu.my/jb/campus/hostel

greytriangle Is there a cafeteria on campus? Where else can I go for my meals?
The campus cafeteria serves mainly local fare and operates from Monday-Friday excluding public holidays. However, the surrounding neighbourhood offers a wide and attractive range of food and beverage options which are very popular and preferred by students as most of these eateries are within walking distance from the campus.

greytriangle Is it a must for all students to have a laptop computer?

Most of our programmes incorporate the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) element as part of our innovative classroom learning experience. This only requires a device which has wi-fi enabled capabilities such as tablets or even the smartphone. However, the college adopts a hybrid learning model where selected classes or activity may be conducted online. Therefore, a laptop would be very helpful as students will have the convenience of working on their assignments anywhere. We also have desktop computers at the IT labs and library which they can use while on-campus.

greytriangle Some briefings, workshops and lessons are delivered online via Microsoft Teams (MS Teams). I am not familiar with this platform, what should I do?
