Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Awards RM52 Million in Scholarships for 2023

Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, 3 Nov, Friday - Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (“JCF”) held its Scholarships and Awards Ceremony 2023 today, disbursing RM52 million in scholarships this year, bringing the total amount of scholarships and grants awarded to RM670 million to date, benefitting thousands of young, deserving students throughout the years.

Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, Permaisuri Johor, and Tan Sri Dato' Seri Sir Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO, founder and trustee of JCF, presented the scholarships to recipients of Sunway University Postgraduate Studentships, Sunway University Postgraduate Scholarships (PhD & Masters), The Chancellors Scholarship, Sunway Excellence Scholarship, Sunway – Victoria University Excellence Scholarship, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali Scholarship for Creative Arts and Music, as well as the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Community Scholarship.

The ceremony reflects JCF’s firm belief in transforming lives through the provision of quality education. Committed to giving back to society and sustaining quality education for present and future generations of students, JCF sets out to address the financial needs of marginalised and disadvantaged students by providing them with equal education opportunities.

At the ceremony, Tan Sri Sir Jeffrey Cheah paid tribute to Her Majesty Permaisuri Johor’s enlightened leadership in the fields of philanthropy and education, and underscored Sunway Group’s commitment towards its corporate social responsibility during a campus tour with the Royal Guest of Honour, Minister of Education Malaysia YB Fadhlina Sidek and select esteemed guests around Sunway University.

Other awards and scholarships presented during the ceremony were the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Scholarship, Teach For Malaysia Scholarship, Sunway Education Group – Elena Cooke Education Fund Scholarship, Sin Chew Daily Education Fund, The Star Education Fund, Sunway Sports Scholarship, Sunway Music Scholarship, Sunway University Young Chef Scholarship, Sunway University Art & Design Scholarship, Sunway College – STYLO Fashion Design Technology Hub Talent Scholarship, Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputra Scholarship, Sunway Strategic Alliance Scholarship, Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship, Sunway Taught Masters, and Jeffrey Cheah ACE Scholarship.
